NEARBY The prices are very reasonable, but bargaining is still in order. As you are
heading on to Myanmar, this will give you a chance to see some of what’s
ATTRACTIONS available when you get there, like the jade and gems, wood, bronze and
marble images of the Buddha of various sizes, handicrafts, clothing and
some of the delicacies you can expect to find there. When standing
outside on the river bank, you can see Myawaddy, your next stop as well
as some Thai and Myanmar commuters crossing the Moei River in boats.
Rim Moei Market
Maenam Road, Tha Sai Luat, Mae Sot, Tak
Open daily from 6.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Like any border town, Mae Sot has lots of markets, shops,
stalls and street venders plying their wares, and sometimes
people can feel rather pressed and annoyed by the hawking.
On the outskirts of town, near the Friendship Bridge is Talad
Rim Moei, or, literally, Moei River Bank Market, which is just
where it is. Considered the official border trade center, this
rather extensive pavilion offers a full range of products from
Myanmar, local ethnic tribes and the north of Thailand as well
as items that have made their way south from China.
