I probably knew and engaged with Ajarn Bhanupong the least among all contributors here since
I have only occasionally met him at Thammasat, and I just joined AEP in 2022. Nevertheless,
my respect for him is on par with others. This year, the Faculty of Economics of Thammasat
University is organizing the East Asian Economic Association (EAEA) international conference
and will hold a session dedicated to honoring the memory of Ajarn Bhanupong. I believe many
of his friends and colleagues will attend, showcasing his strengths in the international arena.
Juthathip Jongwanich is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Economics at Thammasat
University and the editor of Thailand and the World Economy Journal. She has published four
books including “The Economic Consequences of Globalization on Thailand.” She has also written
several articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the Oxford Development Studies, among others.
She is a consultant to the World Bank and other international organizations. Juthathip received a
Ph.D. in economics from Australian National University.
