The construction of Midfield Satellite 1 (SAT-1) and the Third Runway at Suvarnabhumi Airport was initiated
to expand the airport’s passenger handling capacity and to elevate its status as a global aviation hub. Once fully
operational, these developments are expected to yield substantial benefits across various sectors, including the
public and the aviation industry. In addition to facilitating economic recovery, this project exemplifies the
commitment to establishing Suvarnabhumi Airport as a world-class facility grounded in sustainable development.
In celebration of the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s Sixth Cycle Birthday Anniversary on
28 July 2024, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) was graciously granted Royal Permission to
feature the Royal Emblem above the name plaque of Midfield Satellite 1. This bestowal served to inspire and uplift
the morale of AOT executives and personnel.
Subsequently, on Thursday, 20 March 2025, Suvarnabhumi Airport was deeply honoured by the Royal
Presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen, who graciously presided over the Royal Inauguration Ceremony
of Midfield Satellite 1 and the Third Runway. Their Majesties’ visit bestowed immense pride and joy upon the Thai
people and all those involved in this significant occasion.
In heartfelt appreciation of this Royal Benevolence, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited has
prepared this commemorative electronic publication (e-book) to document and preserve the details of this
historic event. The publication features an overview of the project, highlights of Their Majesties’ Royal Visit,
and exhibitions presented by key participating agencies, including the Ministry of Transport, Airports of
Thailand Public Company Limited, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, Aeronautical Radio of
Thailand Limited, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited sincerely hopes this publication will serve as a lasting record
and a source of national pride, inspiring the collective commitment of all Thai citizens in advancing Thailand’s
standing as a premier regional and global aviation hub.
