ADVANCING ASEAN 4.0
IN THE GLOBAL VALUE CHAIN
The regional and global supply chain activities in Asia and ASEAN are currently growing
and deepening as the global value chain (GVC) has regained momentum in recent years. This has
led to the enhanced employment and income, new job creation, and increased prosperity. The
disruptive technologies which emerge from the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) are reshaping GVC
and are creating new opportunities for the participation of entrepreneurs and MSME. In this way,
GVC continues to involve as the role which drives global economy, plays a critical role in global
trade and provides opportunities for countries, sectors, and companies to participate in global
trade. In the meantime, ASEAN nations are pursuing a regional approach to navigate the 4IR and,
at the same time, are taking full advantage of opportunities emerging from GVC.
Objectives
To discuss on how ASEAN will maximize gains from global value chain (GVC) and how ASEAN
can embrace 4IR and reduce impact of 4IR on GVC
