In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), it is indispensable for ASEAN to struggle and
stand ready to face challenges and respond to impacts of this phenomenon. In this way, ASEAN
nations can help facilitate for the business and economic transformation in the advent of 4IR.
This transformation would help ensure long – term growth that is sustainable and inclusive and
foster an environment for the current and next generation of entrepreneurs to thrive. However,
the ASEAN nations are also in need to pay attention to the economic activities associated with the
concept of “Circular economy”, which is involved with optimum use of scarce resources and circular
opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture and forestry sectors, the circular economy solutions
would lead to economic, social and environmental co-benefits through reducing demands for
natural resources, reducing emissions, creating jobs and fostering innovation and new technologies.
