Bhanupong has shown me the way and the method, and his way and his method live on in
            me.  In my time of tribulation, I will sense him walking beside me, encouraging me on with his

            wry witty observations about the situation and his good-natured digs at my foibles.





            Wing Thye Woo is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of California,
            Davis. He is currently Vice President for Asia of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions
            Network and holds several other appointments in the US, China, and Malaysia. He has been the
            convenor of the Asian Economic Panel (AEP) meetings since its inception in 2001 and the Editor-
            in-Chief of the Asian Economic Papers.  An expert on East Asian economies, particularly China,
            Indonesia, and Malaysia, he has advised international organizations and several governments,
            including Malaysia, as a member of the International Advisory Panel to the Prime Minister in
            2008. He graduated from Swarthmore College with a B.A. (High Honors) in Economics and a
            B.S. in Engineering. He received an M.A. in Economics from Yale, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in
            Economics from Harvard.
