Background

The theme of Thailand’s 2019 ASEAN-BAC
Chairmanship is “Empowering ASEAN 4.0.”
This is to ensure that ASEAN countries shall
work together to overcome the challenges of
4 Industrial Revolution and to enhance the performance of ASEAN economies and businesses,

especially MSMEs. The issue of the evolution of Human Resource Management in the digital era will
also be emphasized and highlighted.
The conference will be divided into 2 panel discussions. The first session is “Global Economic
Trend: Implication for ASEAN”. This session is about global perspective towards the ASEAN economies.
The second session revolves around “Regional Economic Outlook 2019 : Challenges and Opportunities
for ASEAN” to integrate into or surpass the global economic trend and beyond.
The questions are: How would global trend impact business opportunities in ASEAN? How can
ASEAN countries work better together in this disruptive digital era to strengthen ASEAN economies?
How will ASEAN Member States cooperate to promote innovation, build up digital connectivity, and
facilitate e-commerce, in order to benefit MSMEs business?
