         Just  over  8,500  kilometers  from  England,  high  up  on  the  Shan
         Plateau, is this park modeled after London’s Royal Kew Gardens,
         which  can  cause  some  confusion  for  visitors.  Carved  out  and
         planted originally in 1915 by Turkish prisoners of the First World
         War  under  the  supervision  of  Forest  Reserve  Officer  Alex  Roger
         and the botanist Lady Cuffe, today this national reserve protects as
         many as 435 acres. Set to the south of Pyin Oo Lwin’s city center
         around  Kandwaygi Lake, the gardens comprise as many as 480
         different  species  of  flowers,  shrubs  and  trees,  including  orchids,
         dahlias and roses as well as exotic fruit. The exterior stairway of the
         Chinese, rocket-shaped Nan Myint Tower offers spectacular views
