It’s been 52 years since I took Tik into my heart as a true buddy. Today, on Valentine’s Day,
I want to share some highlights of our friendship in three parts.

Part 1: 1971-1974, Thammasat University Students
As a newcomer from the countryside, Tik warmly helped me adjust to life in Bangkok. At

the end of our first year, I even treated him and two other friends to a week-long adventure in
Chiang Mai. It was a joyous memory full of laughter and bonding.
The following year, we faced a defining moment together: the October 14th, 1973 uprising
against the military regime. Through this challenging time, Tik’s strength of character shone
through. He was imaginative, sensitive, and fiercely loyal, never leaving a friend behind – especially

me, his “Big Brother,” five years his senior. These memories remain deeply etched in my heart.

Part 2: Beyond Graduation

After graduating, our paths diverged. While I worked in a state bank, Tik pursued his passion
and became a respected teacher at the Economics faculty. We crossed paths occasionally, and I
always admired his dedication to educating the next generation.
