Bhanupong and I studied together at the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University.
We became friends since then because we shared similar tastes and beliefs, both socially and
politically.
We were among the few economics students who chose to study ‘Humanities and Arts,’
and what’s remarkable is that he still remembers that Handel’s ‘The Water Music’ was the first
classical song our professor played in class, while I can’t recall it at all.
Even after graduation, we kept in touch. He would provide economic advice while I was
involved in investment-related work. When I needed recommendation letters to study for my
master’s degree in Australia, he helped me.
Our communication became more frequent when we had Line. He often sent me drawings
by his favorite artists. I remember he once hung a small poster of Van Gogh in his office when
he was a young lecturer.
Once, he sent me a Dvorak song to listen to, saying he liked it, akin to watching a cowboy
movie.
The exchange of opinions assured me that he has always been an economist who cares about
society and the underprivileged, ever since our student days.
Losing my best friend hurts deeply.
Kochakorn served as Company Secretary of Nam Seng Insurance Public Company Limited.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, from Thammasat University, in 1975 and an MBA
from Master of Business Administration (MBA) from RMIT University, Australia, in 1993.
