         At another of these clusters of bucolic households, family women will
         be seen sitting around a table cutting the thinnest, almost translucent
         slices  of  tiny  Chek  Nam  Va  Siam,  or  Thai  Pisang  Awak  bananas.
         There’ll be a container filled with small knives in the center of the table.
         It’s the men’s job to keep the blades razor sharp. As the women cut,
         they lay out each banana slice on a bamboo-woven sheet of 50 to
         100 cm. which will be set out to dry in the sun, after which the slices
         are bagged and sold as sweet, chewy treats. Ten sheets cost two US
         dollars and three women can produce about 100 a day. Most visitors
         like to try their hand at slicing the Chek Nam Va Siam before buying
         some to take with them to nibble on as they continue their sojourn.
