Not far from Sirindhorn Museum is the intriguing Wat Phuttanimit,
or, as it is better known, Wat Phu Khao, or Mountain Temple.
Centuries ago a forest meditation retreat, it is once more under
major development, which only adds to its mystic. Begin your visit
with a walk in the forest where you will find a two-meter long carving
of a reclining Buddha under a cliff. The bas-relief, believed to be
sculpted in 1692, is quite unique as it is one of the only reclining
Buddha images to be seen resting on its left hand.
