WHAT TO DO Then, there are the performances by gifted musicians playing Thai
country, I-san Mor Lam, Thai Luk Thung, contemporary folk-rock Pua
Chivit and even local hip hop and K-pop renditions.
Of course, there are local artists, craftsmen and designers selling their
AND SEE work, wares and fashion, which include lots of fun and attractive tee
shirts. This really is a great way to spend a night.

Night markets have been a growing phenomenon in Thailand, not
just for foreign tourists, but as much for locals who like to get out
and about, which is most definitely an intricate part of Thailand
culture. Khon Kaen now has as many as seven night bazaars, and
the largest of these is Talad Tontan, which is a lot different than the
night market you might expect.
It reminds many of Hua Hin’s Cicada Market, very spacious and
clean with stalls serving a wide range of foods from local somtam,
kai yang, and khao niew, to more f’lang oriented beef, pork and
chicken steaks with crispy french fries and garden-picked salad with
a fusion of ethnic dishes in between, even Thai pizza.
