Bhanupong:
A Respectful Man
Chusri Maneepruek and
Sukanya Nithangkorn An afternoon with former ajarns: Ajarn Jintana,
1 February 2024 Ajarn Chusri, Bhanupong and Ajarn Sukanya; 2013
We both knew Professor Bhanupong in many different roles: as a student, as a colleague
(when Professor Bhanupong was a lecturer in the Faculty of Economics), and as a supervisor
(when Professor Bhanupong was the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs).
As a student, Bhanupong was a student we admired. He was a dedicated student who excelled
in his studies. When he joined the faculty as a lecturer, Bhanupong continued to show respect
for his teachers and mentors. He always stood slightly hunched over when talking to them, as a
sign of respect, and his face was always smiling and cheerful.
When Professor Bhanupong was the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs under Rector Naris
Chaiyasoot, he may have been somewhat distant from the Faculty of Economics. However,
whenever we met, he still behaved the same way, showing respect and deference, and introducing
each of us as “my teacher.” This made us even more respected by those who respected the Vice-
Rector.
However, despite his gentle nature, we also felt that Professor Bhanupong was a serious
person when it came to teaching and working. He was always ready to make sure that everything
was done correctly and completely. This is why Professor Bhanupong was loved and respected
by everyone who knew him.
We both love and miss Professor Bhanupong very much.
