Over the next five to six years, Bangkok is
anticipated to enter a super-aged society, with
the proportion of population aged 60 and above
projected to exceed 28 percent. Meanwhile, the
total population is expected to remain stable or
decline slightly due to persistently low birth rates
and outward migration. Average household size is
also projected to decrease to approximately 2–2.5
persons per household, reflecting the growth
of smaller households and single-person living
arrangements. Urban development planning must
therefore prioritize the creation of age-friendly
environments, while also adapting to evolving
patterns of housing, social services, and basic
infrastructure provision in alignment with future
demographic structures.
