This site is known as Bor Phloi Lek Petch,
or Diamond Mine, but don’t expect to
find any of these gems. Set amidst a lush
orchard with a lot of longkong, or langsat,
are holes bored into the ground and
braced by bamboo poles. So, again, the
work can be quite dusty or wet and muddy,
depending on the season. No matter, it is
still great fun to make a discovery, as small
as it might be. The more discerning your
eyes become, the richer the experience.
After some digging, you can watch as the
stones are burned, cut and polished as
well as fit into beautiful settings.
