Lat Krabang is a strategically important area in eastern Bangkok that has been expanding steadily and serves as
the location of several major development projects. These include the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport, the
high-speed rail project linking Bangkok with the Eastern Seaboard, the double-track railway project connecting
to Map Ta Phut Deep-Sea Port and Laem Chabang Port, and the Lat Krabang New Economic Zone development
project, which functions as both a major employment hub and a large-scale residential area. In addition, mixed-
use land development has taken place in the area, with certain developments not fully aligned with the Bangkok
Comprehensive Plan.
To ensure that development proceeds in a well-directed manner and supports the area’s role as part of the
Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and as a gateway to the international community, the City Planning and
Urban Development Department has therefore implemented the “Lat Krabang Sub-Center and Adjacent Areas
Development Project” to define a balanced and sustainable direction for growth.
