The mouth of Samsen Canal has historically served as a cultural
headwater area, reflecting waterfront living patterns as well
as its history as an important marketplace and water-based
transportation route – elements that have faded in modern times.
The development project for the Samsen Canal Mouth area in
Dusit District therefore focuses on reviving the waterfront way
of life and improving access to the canal. The area is envisioned
as a pilot site for landscape improvement and promotion of
community economic activities, such as recreational spaces, canal-
side activities, retail areas, and the continuation of traditional
craftsmanship. The objective is to connect the past and the
present across cultural, social, and economic dimensions, fostering
vibrancy and inspiring communities to re-engage with the canal
in all aspects.
