The area around Bot Temple in Samsen area has long been integral
to Dusit Community, encompassing the temple, school, and canal-side
residential areas. It also possesses high potential for transport
connectivity, as the MRT Purple Line (Tao Poon–Rat Burana Section)
is planned for future development, which is expected to significantly
increase commuter traffic. The landscape improvement and
canal-side activity plaza development project along Samsen
Canal in the Bot Temple (Samsen) vicinity, Dusit District, was
therefore initiated to address the physical deterioration of the
waterfront and the adjacent area around Edison Department
Store. The project includes the rehabilitation of the pier and
waterfront spaces for renewed use, architectural improvements, the
construction of a skywalk, as well as the provision of waiting areas,
a canal-side activity plaza, and parking facilities. This initiative aims
to support the area’s role as a transit interchange, expand mobility
choices, promote community activities, and create a new cultural
tourism destination in the heart of the city.
