Concerning performance in 2016, PEA had a total income of 456,737
million baht, most of which was from power distribution at 441,458 million
baht. Total expenses were 430,849 million baht, mostly from 371,670 million
baht to purchase power. PEA had a proft of 25,888 million baht during the
year, an increase from 2015 by 4,816 million baht and an increase in proft
from power distribution by 6,455 million baht as a result of the national
economy’s growth of 3.2 percent from 2.8 percent in 2015. Supporting factors
from the government’s economic stimulatioin measures and tourism growth
caused PEA to grow in power units sold by 5.2 percent from 3.9 percent
in 2015. Furthermore, PEA set operational expense control measures, causing
operational expense growth in 2016 to be lower than 2015.
PEA had total assets of 378,149 million baht, an increase from 2015
by 11,172 million baht, or 3.0 percent. Total assets consisted of current
assets at 100,642 million baht and non-current assets at 277,507 million
baht. Most of the increase was from land, buildings and equipment at 9,830
million baht, or 4.2 percent. PEA has total liabilities at 227,400 million baht, a
reduction from 2015 by 141 million baht or 0.1 percent. Liabilities consisted
of current liabilities at 56,938 million baht and non-current liabilities at
170,462 million baht. Equity was at 150,749 million baht, an increase from
2015 by 11,313 million baht or 8.1 percent.
PEA took out domestic loans to invest in work plans/projects to
support higher power needs, increase power system effciency and
security, and reduce power system losses while maintaining environment
and scenery attractiveness according to the government’s policy by setting
guidelines for obtaining loans from domestic loan sources in baht currency
primarily by issuing bonds, causing foreign loans and domestic loans
of PEA as of December 31, 2016 to be at 591 million baht and 77,848 million
baht, respectively, or 0.8 percent and 99.2 percent of all loan liabilities.
